Sea Days.on the Island Princess

We had a sea day on Thursday. It was a day of just plain relaxing. We found a sunny spot on the pool deck and listened to Xtasea play a set. About 3 PM we headed to the cabin for a mandatory rest period. Angie had booked a Fire & Ice pedicure for 5:15. While she went to the spa, I went to the Captain's Circle Happy Hour and chatted with Jonathan and Jay from the bar staff. Jonathan is very proud of his new YouTube channel. The link to his latest video is https://youtu.be/lN238EF9lH0

After the happy hour we went to Good Spirits which is located in the Piazza on deck 5. We've been to this bar on other ships but it was our first visit this cruise. We both had a delicious watermelon and tequila cocktail. Soon it was time for dinner. No pictures tonight but we both had the Vol Au Vent which is a pastry shell (more like a biscuit) with a delicious shellfish bisque and chunks of lobster and shrimp. We also had some tasty grilled trout and shared spaghetti carbonara. No dessert.

After dinner we listened to the Glam Band in the Wheelhouse Bar before heading to see "On The Bayou" which was the nights production show in the main theater. Very entertaining and fun show.

They sang some crowd favorites and had some good dancing. I was entertained. After the show we went back to see the Glam Band for their final set. It was a great set with hits from Donna Summer, Irene Cara, Katrina and The Waves and others. Great way to end the night.

I've always felt there should be a trivia where you have to name other songs from bands that were "one hit wonders". Do you know any other song from Katrina and the Waves other than "Walking on Sunshine"'? Or anything other than "Come On Eileen"' from Dexys Midnight Runners? I don't.

Today we were supposed to call in Visby on Gotland Island Sweden. We had missed that port on July 2nd due to strong westerly winds. The captain had made an announcement a couple of days ago that he thought the chances looked promising for today. Unfortunately, after three attempts to dock this morning, those tricky westerly winds were just too much and the call had to be cancelled. So we have a sea day today which was the plan in the original itinerary of this sailing. Visby is not "to be"'.

We did get to see Albert carve an ice sculpture. He was originally carving a swan, but it cracked. He quickly pivoted to an eagle.

Tonight at 5 PM is the Captain's Circle party. It's one of my favorite events since they recognize the most sailed guests. Angie and I have 14 sailings (including this one) on Princess. It'll be 132 days at sea with Princess. Sounds like a lot. Except I predict all three of the top three "most sailed" will have more than 1500 days. Angie predicts the top person will have 1847 days sailed. I'm predicting 2130 days. We'll find out later.

** The top sailing couple had 1899 days**

We went to see Max Himmelreich's "Rock Tenor" show. He has an incredible voice. It was a good mix of opera and contemporary songs.
