Island Princess Day 3

Yesterday was a sea day. We had some room service breakfast on the balcony of delicious Princess Egg Muffins and a fruit plate.

While Angie worked, I spent some time up on the pool deck and I may have had a slice of pizza. It was a little cool but the fresh air felt great!!

For lunch I went to the buffet and had a salad of cucumbers and carrots with blue cheese dressing and one of my favorites: Butter Chicken!! Both were very good. I ate while listening to Xtasea play some crowd favorites from the pool deck stage. Angie joined me and we each had a slice of pizza.

We would be approaching the Great Belt Bridge around 6:30 PM so we decided we'd enjoy the scenic sailing from our balcony. This area is a major shipping channel and we saw so many ships including a German warship. We also saw the ship for our upcoming sailing on the Arctic Princess. You have to agree it's quite a different design.

The Great Belt Bridge is quite long at 18 km (11 miles). It's a four lane suspension bridge combined with a railway tunnel that was built in 1999. It stands at a total height of 256 meters (841 feet) and the clearance for ships is 65 meters (214 feet). No problem for the Island Princess which has a height of 62 meters. Although it always seems closer when you sail under these types of bridges. The bridge connects the Danish islands of Zealand and Funen and along with the New Little Belt Bridge, the bridge provides a continuous connection between Copenhagen and the Danish mainland.

After our scenic sailing, we headed to the buffet fdort dinner. It was an Asian theme and they had some goods dishes including salmon and tuna poke. You could make your own sushi along with seaweed salad and roe. Pretty tasty. After dinner we decided to make it an early night and headed to the cabin.

Today we will dock at 8:30 AM in Bornholm Denmark which is an island of 174 square miles and a population of 39K. There is a complimentary shuttle bus to take you into town. We'll do that and then walk around the town. No planned excursion. Just a chance to see some sites after two sea days.
