We had a great day in Kauai. We hired a Tours by Locals
guide -Kate. She greeted us with leis and we headed off into the island. We
stopped at a gorgeous waterfall.
She took us to a great local deli to grab a picnic of
Hawaiian foods: Huli Huli chicken, ahi tuna poke, pork, octopus, and malasadas.
We also had the purple sweet potatoes - ube. Malasadas are Portuguese donuts.
Ours were made from turo.
We went up to an Arboretum with incredible rainbow bamboo to
eat. Everything was delicious.
We visited the Hindu monastery. The grounds are incredible
with plants from all over the world. There's a beautiful banyon tree you can
walk through in meditation.
We headed to another waterfall and scenic overlook. I see
why Kauai is known as the Garden Isle. It's so lush with so many different
plants and trees.
We ended the tour with Shave Ice. I got the ube and Glenn
got the strawberry. It definitely lived up to the hype.
After the tour, we went to Kalapaki beach right by the
cruise port. It had a nice grass area. I was excited to swim in Hawaii.
Back onboard, the guitar player played at the Outrigger Bar
for a great sailaway. We had snack dinner at our happy hour. They had ahi tuna
tartare. It was delicious. We visited the Vines bar. We lost Music Connection
trivia, grabbed a slice of pizza, and headed to bed early.
