Crown Princess Embarkation

We had an easy flight into LAX. Our luggage arrived quickly and our Blacklane driver was great. We stayed at the Residence Inn Long Beach Downtown. The hotel was nice, but the location is terrible. Only one restaurant within walking distance. The restaurant had very good Mexican food. We had great tacos and guacamole for lunch and then took a salad and quesadilla to go to reheat for dinner. We just chilled at the hotel for the afternoon.

We got a taxi to the Los Angeles World Cruise Center. Embarkation was pretty quick. We grabbed pizza for lunch on the pool deck.

We hung out at the Outrigger bar in the back until it got too cold in the shade. We met the bartenders at Vines bar. It seems like a lot of crew arrived on embarkation day with us. Before dinner, we listened to the House Band play jazz in the Wheelhouse bar. Dinner was in Boticelli's - the secret dining room as we like to call it since it's so hard to get to. We had good service, but it was freezing there. We ordered French Onion soup just warm up. I had the Hawaiian pork and Glenn had the chili. We shared the fettuccini alfredo. All were very good. We headed back to the cabin after dinner to warm up.

It's our first Sea Day today. I'm heading for a manicure/pedicure this morning.

Glenn's update:

We had an exciting day yesterday!! About 9AM ET we got an email from our real estate agent with the words that every seller wants to see: Closed and Funded!! All our hard work from the past few weeks had paid off. The transaction officially closed. About an hour later, the proceeds were in our bank account.
About an hour after that we headed to the Los Angeles World Cruise Center in San Pedro to board the Crown Princess. All embarkation days are exciting for a variety of reasons. But this one felt extra special and exciting. We had a quick lunch of the best pizza at sea. Their four cheese variety is really good (fontina, mozzarella, blue and parmesan). Then some celebratory cocktails (Silver Patron with soda water and orange slice) at the aft bar called the Outrigger. Before heading back to our cabin, we stopped at Vines which is the wine bar and had a great French Sauvignon Blanc. While there we decided to sign up for special event seating for the Super Bowl. We'll have our own reserved seats plus drinks and special food.
All dressed for dinner, we saw the jazz band play a great set and then headed to the dining room. We both had some wonderful French onion soup. Angie had the Hawaiian pork and I had Texas chili. We also shared some fettuccine Alfredo. With the excitement from the morning and the three hour time change, it was going to be an early night.
Today is our first of five sea days before we arrive in Hilo on Sunday. We turned our clocks back an hour last night so we're now four hours behind east coast time. Definitely plan to relax a bit. Hoping that the buffet has some Filipino food for breakfast. Love Pork Tocino over rice with a fried egg!! Or Beef Tapas!! The dining room has one of my favorite dishes on the lunch menu (Chicken Korma) so we may go there later. Onward to Hawaii!!
