We sold our house

We did it!

Just a quick recap.

On December 24th, our house alarm went off while we were in the Midwest. We had a very frustrating experience trying to figure out what was happening. As we were sitting waiting for church, I turned to Glenn and said, Let's just sell it. He said yes. I went to work on a list of what would need to happen to get it done before we left January 30th for a 5 week trip.

I researched mailing services, realtors, storage facilities, and clean out companies.

We returned from the Midwest on January 2nd and went right to work getting the house ready to show a realtor.
We had the meeting on January 4th and loved Kristy. She was the perfect person to sell our house. (Miracle #1) We asked how fast can we move. She said it depends on the photographer. The photographer had availability the next day at 4 pm (Miracle #2).

After months and months of delays, our landscaper finally installed sod on Friday January 6th. (Miracle #3).

We found the exact storage we needed at a place nearby.

We hustled to get the house ready for her photoshoot. Photoshoot went great.

We listed the house a week from the photo shoot. We spent the 6th and 7th clearing out all the closets for an open house.

We left on January 8th for two previously scheduled cruises.

The house listed on January 12th. The open house was January 14th. We had over 20 showings and 35 families at the Open House. We received four offers at or above asking. The one we accepted wanted a January 31st close. (Miracle #4) We accepted it on January 14th.

The inspection was January 16th. The buyers wanted no concessions. (Miracle #5)

On the cruise, I got to work signing up for a mail service and confirming our clean out. Glenn got to work cancelling all the things related to the house.

The person we thought was going to clean out the house fell through. I found someone else willing to do it on very short notice (Miracle #6).

We got home from the cruise on January 22nd. Jeff from Tampa Bay Hauling Service confirmed his availability to clean out the house. He came over Monday morning to see the garage since we only had photos from the listing to send him.

He said his crew would arrive Wednesday the 25th.  He thought it would take three days. We got to work pulling together the last keep items and cleaning the cupboards and dressers.  After a 15 hour day on Tuesday, we were almost ready.

We got up early Wednesday to finish some packing. We didn't quite get it all done. We came back during their lunch break to take a load to Salvation Army.

Thursday, we reorganized the storage unit to fit the car in.

Friday the hauling crew finished at noon so we went over to clean. We took one more load to Metropolitan Ministries.

Sunday, we reset the ADT, grabbed the router, and left the keys. Our house is ready for its new family. The closing went as scheduled today. We sold our house.
