1/10/23 Cozumel

The Prima docked in Cozumel around 6:30 am this morning. We were at the dock closest to town. We disembarked around 9:00 am and grabbed a taxi. This pier you have to take an escalator up to a walkway over the street, walk through the mall, go down stairs, walk back through the mall, and then you can get a taxi. We visited Dreams Cape Cozumel.

We had seen the construction on our last visit to Cozumel. I was delighted to see that the resort was built right next to the house we rented 10 years ago for birthday. Good ol’ Las Ventanas. The tour went well and I filmed a video. We took a taxi back and then headed back to the ship.

We had lunch at Indulge Food Hall. The Indian options there are so good. I had a vegetarian curry dish and a salad. We headed up to Vibe. I worked while Glenn took a nap. We had pedicure appointments. Yes, I convinced Glenn to get a pedicure. I was disappointed that the pedicure chairs on the Prima do not have windows.  Both techs were very good. I worked for the rest of the afternoon.

We headed to Onda by Scarpetta for dinner. We got lucky and they sat us early. Onda was delicious. I love the stromboli rolls that come in the bread basket. For appetizers, we tried the Fritto Misto, grilled octopus, short ribs, and beef carpaccio. The Fritto Misto was great- very crispy and well cooked. The zucchini chips were a highlight. The grilled octopus was overdone, but the sauce was bright and flavorful. The short ribs were good, but the farro cooked as a risotto on the side was even better.

It was creamy and slightly salty. The beef carpaccio was good, but not what I was expecting. It was thinly sliced slightly seared pieces of tenderloin.

For the mains, I had the short rib ravioli. It was excellent. The ravioli had more yolk that others I’ve had so that gave it a very creamy texture. Glenn had the Bolognese.

It was excellent. The butterscotch dessert is the best option – it’s salty and creamy and sweet. The Maitre’D came over to check on us. We told her that we had been to Scarpetta in New York. This Bolognese on the Prima was better. Well, she went and got the chef so we could tell him. At first he misunderstood, he thought we were complaining that the New York one was better. The Maitre’D clarified and a huge smile broke out on his face when he realized what we went. I think we made his day.

We headed to Metropolitan bar to see Lovely. We had a great time. I made Lovely laugh so hard she started crying. Chocolate Cowboy was talking about how he is mistaken for Denzel Washington all the time so he just tells people he is Mr Washington’s stunt double. Then, I pointed at Ricardo and said well, if you are Denzel’s stunt double, Ricardo is Tom Cruise’s stunt double. Ricardo has a build and hair cut very similar to Tom Cruise. Lovely started laughing so hard. Then, Ricardo said I’m the double of the double of the double of the double and we all lost it. It was great.

The show was Price is Right. It was so much fun. They gave us nametags like they wear on the show.

They had contestants come on down through a random draw since everyone had to scan in to be in the theater. The games were Cliffhanger, the speed game where you move around the prices, and Plinko. They also had the wheel and a showcase showdown. It was very fun. We headed the night back at Metropolitan.
