Yesterday we stopped in Mazatlan. We were going to stay on
the ship. Angie had some work to finish
up which I went and got some Huevos Rancheros from Blue Iguana. I then went up to Deck 15 Forward which is
where the Serenity deck is located. This
is an adults only area with loungers, couches, clamshells, hot tubs and it's
own bar!! On sea days they have a
salad bar available for lunch. It was
very quiet up there since most of the guests decided to head into port. I found a secluded spot and listened to some
pod casts. I may have even had a nap!!
At about 12:30, Angie joined me at the chairs and we spent
some time in the hot tub. It was then
time for some lunch!! Today we tried the
Mongolian Wok. You get your choice from
five different noodle options. They had
beef, chicken or shrimp stir fry. You
could also get those as a noodle soup or a combo of all three proteins. And they also had a ginger pineapple pork
stir fry. I ordered that one and Angie
went with the rice noodles and shrimp. I
ordered some chili sauce on the side. Both were very good, aided by the
additional sauce. We also grabbed a sandwich from the deli. I had a southwest
chicken wrap and Angie had a delicious turkey and swiss on a fresh pretzel
roll!!
After lunch we spent more time in Serenity. It was a pretty
warm day so at about 3:30 we had enough of the sun and headed to the
cabin. After a mandatory rest period we
got ready for a pre-dinner visit to Pig & Anchor for some fresh-brewed
Farmhouse Ale. Our bartender friend
Andrei suggested we get a pitcher of beer to save a few dollars!!
It was then time to meet our friends for dinner. Tonight all the starters were really good. I
had BBQ chicken flatbread, Caesar salad, lasagna and onion soup. For a main I had some really delicious BBQ
spareribs!! No dessert.
After dinner we headed up the open deck to watch the Silent
Party. This is where guests are given a set of headphones. They can switch between three different music
tracks being played by the DJs. The
headsets glow one of three colors for the different tracks. Always so fun to watch to see which track is
more popular. Even better to see groups
of people listening to different tracks. The best one last night was seeing
people chanting to YMCA while others were singing along to Katie Perry's
"California Girls"!!
After that we met our friends to catch the last part of a
set of 1980's music from Cruise Control.
Some good versions of songs from George Michael, The Police and Kenny
Loggins. It was then time to head to the
cabin.
We're in Cabo today and staying onboard. This is a tender port and also a short stay
where the last tender is at 2PM. We've
been here a couple of times and done a whale watch. Didn't need to do that this time. We should be able to see some from the ship.
