February 7 - 9 Camping at Hillsborough River State Park

We headed out camping February 7th for a weekend at Hillsborough River State Park. We really like camping here. The campsites are nice and face the woods. The Park has a great network of trails to explore. Plus - it's only 30 minutes from our house.

This trip was historic because it is the first time we camped in the cold and the rain. Our new tent passed the rain test and we were pretty excited about that. We spent most of Friday night sitting in our chairs inside our tent:

Saturday we headed over to Fort Foster for the re-enactment of a skirmish from the Second Seminole War. I have to say that war was very slow back then. One musket shot.........another musket shot..........Fire the Canon...... another shot. All of the re-enactors are volunteers so it's really cool that they spend so much time and money in this effort to make sure these stories are told. They even camp out using only supplies from the time period.

Saturday night, we were able to make a fire in between rain drops. We didn't bring s'mores so Glenn improvised with a blueberry fig bar. Pretty smart that one!

Even though it was rainy and cold, it was good to get out to the woods.
