January 2022: Hyatt Zilara Cancun

 January 14, 2022 Travel Day

We had an easy flight. The people in front of us didn't wear their mask the whole flight. Glenn complained to the flight attendant, but he didn't say anything. I guess they don't want to get in confrontations. i was glad we wore KN95s and it was a short flight. We breezed through security. Check in was easy.

We scheduled our COVID tests and had lunch at 11:30 am. Glenn really enjoyed the octopus and I liked the fish tacos.

We just hung out in the lobby until our room was ready at 2:00 pm. We headed to the pool. There was a really fun pool party happening. We had a good time watching all the dancing.

We watched sunset from the Spa pool and had a cocktail by the main pool.

Dinner was Teppanyaki. It was good. The salmon was the star, but the fried rice and Thai soup were also good.

After dinner was the Circus Show. It was really impressive.

They had aerialists, but the stunner was a woman who balanced on top of all boards and cylinders. It looked like she was going to fall any minute.

January 15, 2022 Pool Day

Glenn ran down to the coffee shop to get iced coffees so we could enjoy them on the balcony. We headed down to the pool and spent a great day in the water. Glenn played volleyball and earned the nickname "Reach" for some great saves. I hung out at the edge of the infinity pool. In the afternoon, a live singer sang fun dance tunes by the pool.

We joined Maryann and Tom for dinner at Maria Marie - the Mexican restaurant. The food was excellent. The octopus was my favorite, but the chocolate dessert and stuffed back potato were also so good.

We started watching the Patriots game in the Sports Bar, but a group of Bills fans were there and the chairs were uncomfortable so we headed up to the room. Our room has a really big TV.

January 16, 2022 Beach Day

We rented a double decker cabana on the beach for the day. It had huge chaises that were really comfortable.

We could order food. We loved the nachos.

It came with a bottle of really good tequila.  The cabana was $179 for the day. The bottle of tequila costs $150 at home. I read a book. Glenn played volleyball again, but the same guys didn't play. No new nicknames. I liked I could cheer him on from the upper deck of the cabana.

We went back to Maria Marie - the Mexican restaurant - for dinner. We got a version of fajitas this time which were really good. We got a drink at the Den. It's a bar that is supposed to have special mixology. The drinks were really good. We sat outside and then decided to head back to the room to watch the football.

January 17, 2022 Work Day

It was a busy day. We had our COVID test at 9:00 am. Then, we took a taxi over the Breathless Cancun Soul for a site inspection. It’s a new resort that opened December 7th . It’s always fun to visit hotels when they still smell new.

We had lunch at Punta Vista. I ordered a great dish. It was a mortar that was hot with melted cheese, veggies, sausage, chicken and beef. SO GOOD!

I went upstairs to work while Glenn played volleyball. We had some afternoon pool time. I met up with Melissa – a sale manager who has become a friend. We went to get crepes in Cancun.

Glenn met up with Tom and Maryann for dinner at Asiana. I met them for dessert. We enjoyed the evening Latin Show. Our test results arrived via email at 9:00 pm.

January 18, 2022 Heading Home

We got our transfer to the Cancun airport and I set up shop in the Lounge for a couple hours work before our JetBlue flight home. f
